Guide to design your brand logo

A Logo has to go through 8 stages of designing:

1)      Design Brief:

·       Conducting A Questionnaire

·       Interview/Follow up Questions

2)      Research

·       Research about the Industry

·       Research about the Competition

·       Research about the Target Audience

·       Research about the brand values and Vision

3)      Brainstorm

·       Reflecting on Design Brief & Research

·       Looking out for Inspiration

·       Mind-Mapping Ideas

·       Creating Mood Boards

4)      Sketching

·       Drafting Dozens of Rough Concepts

·       Taking a step back to reflect on the concepts

·       Narrowing down to only the strongest few of them

5)      Presentation

·       Creating a Rationale that outlines all major design decisions

·       Communicating the Rationale to the Client

6)      Revising (Optional)

·       Starting for the Point No. 3, reflection is based on design brief, research and now also the client feedback

·       Go through Point No. 4 and 5 again

7)      Refinement

·       The concept is then recrafted with extreme attention to details logo mark and the typography

·       Reflect on this creation and give the final touch up

8)      Final Package

·       A variety of file formats needs to be prepared in various resolutions for print and web use.

So, if someone is offering you a design or a logo service for dirt cheap price, are they really going through all the stages? Big brands spends lakhs of rupees after their logo and branding because they understand the importance of it. A shabby logo shows how much you care about your brand? If you don’t care about your own brand, will you even care for your client? – That’s the first thought in client’s mind when they see a cheaply designed logo.

Focus on Value, rather than cost. Most businesses will not change logo once designed ( atleast for a decade). Why would you want to carry a cheap/unthought/poorly designed logo for the rest of your business life.
